Leadership

Women as leaders is an important focus for BPW.

Recognising Women Leaders

Across Australia and worldwide, BPW celebrates the achievements of women leaders.  Many events are held around 8 March, International Women's Day.

Club Training

Keys to Achievement is a structured learning program for BPW members to record the various skills they can learn during their membership, including public speaking, meeting procedure, board roles and event management.  There are three levels of attainment, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Women on Boards

Women on Boards is the leading online network for women seeking directorships on Australian boards. It evolved from the need for our boards to look like the society they serve, and for women to share equally in decision making in industry, government, education, health, sport and religion. WOB has a network of 3,000 professional women and recently launched a subscription model to enable it to increase its services, widen its already impressive networks and actively promote women onto boards.

BPWA members are strongly encouraged to register for positions on Boards and can do so at  www.womenonboards.org.au

Women's Empowerment Principles

The Women’s Empowerment Principles-Equality Means Business suggests seven steps for companies to take to empower women in the workplace and the market place. They were launched by the United Nations Development Fund For Women (UNIFEM, part of UN Women) and the United Nations Global Compact based on a multi-stakeholder consultative process.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles are subtitled Equality Means Business because the full participation of women benefits business and by signing the Statement of Support, CEOs will demonstrate leadership on gender equality and women’s empowerment and will encourage fellow business leaders to do the same.
